I bought a "child-safe" phone charger last week. Twenty minutes later, I'm standing in my kitchen bleeding into the box like I just wrestled a shark, my nails destroyed, the plastic still intact—and the actual phone is dead on the counter watching me suffer. The package won. I lost.

You finally work up the courage to tell your therapist you're considering a major life change, and halfway through she nods, unlocks her phone, and starts scrolling. You keep talking. She keeps scrolling. Eventually you just say "...and then I joined the circus," and she goes "mm-hmm, that's valid." You're pretty sure she has no idea, but at least now you have permission to do it.

repetitive explaining

I asked my dad three times what time dinner was, and he answered all three times like I'd just developed sudden-onset deafness. On the fourth ask, he switched to interpretive hand gestures. I'm pretty sure he thinks repetition is a learning disability now.

being interrupted

You're mid-sentence about why your flight got cancelled when your coworker interrupts with a story about *their* flight. You try again. They're already three sentences into a tangent about airport nachos. You open your mouth. They're now doing a full impression of the gate agent. You close your mouth. By the time they finish, you've forgotten what you were saying, and somehow you're now helping them troubleshoot their suitcase lock while they never did learn why you missed the wedding.
